Wisconsin 40

Talked to brother Steve earlier today. In two weeks (God willing and the creek don't rise) the seven Hartman cousins will be having our annual reunion at the "40" near Amberg, WI. We will be discussing the future of the land (originally 80 acres) which was purchased by our grandparents way back when. Our grandma Anna continued to live there well into her 60's. After that the land became overgrown and an Aunt, then another cousin, continued to pay the taxes (God Bless them) so that the property stayed in the family. In the past 12-15 years Steve has more or less become the guardian of the property. After locating the homestead those years ago, he then proceeded to clear off an area - the outhouse and another outbuilding were still standing - and built a modest cabin. He spends a good portion of his time there - then journeys to Florida in the winter. Grandma's house was dilapidated and was therefore torn down. There is a lot of family history in that neck of the woods. It is somewhat remote which makes it more interesting. I'm sure it will be a good visit with the cousins.
